Comedy Night: DC Benny w/ special guest Dave Casey

In the hard-hitting New York comedy world, D.C. Benny is a heavyweight contender. His unorthodox style of comedic story-telling, seasoned with original characters, has earned him a rabid fan base of all shapes, sizes, shades and ages over the last 26 years.

As an English major at the University of Maryland, he entered a talent show where he got big laughs doing impressions of all of his professors. He soon became a fixture at local comedy clubs in the D.C. area, before moving to Brooklyn NY.

Once in New York, he made a name for himself as a white comic who was happy to work the urban rooms in addition to performing at the mainstream comedy clubs.

Benny killed on his first tv appearance on Showtime At the Apollo and has since performed in all over the U.S. and toured internationally.

Many of his fans know him from his dramatic film and tv roles. He has been seen on multiple Law and Orders, had a long run on the soap As The World Turns, and has been in many feature films such as Freedomland with Samuel Jackson and John Singleton’s Illegal Tender.

He has also been in numerous national commercials for Verizon, Dell, Volkswagon, Wendy’s, and was the main character in the Budweiser “How You Doin’?” Superbowl spots.

His Comedy Central half hour is one of the highest rated in the networks history, and he was a semi-finalist on Season 2 of Last Comic Standing.

His weekly comedic story-telling show, Urban Myth, became an underground staple, where performers such as Dave Chapelle, Ben Bailey, Jim Gaffigan, Marc Maron, Jim Norton, and Colin Quinn would drop by and tell their true, funny, stories.

Benny still lives in Brooklyn with his wife and animals, where he works on his writing projects, fiddles around with old Land Rovers, and makes his own sauce.

Dave originally hails from Framingham MA and has lived in West Hartford CT for the past 12 years with his wife and dog. Dave’s first comedy performance was at the tender age of 8 when he shocked his Cub Scout Troop with a vulgar George Carlin-themed puppet show. Flash forward 30 years. After tormenting his coworkers with bizarre anecdotes and impressions, Dave was finally convinced by them to perform stand up on stage. Since then, he has regularly been entertaining audiences across central Connecticut with his unique story-telling style humor. Dave can be found working comedy clubs, corporate events, private parties and fundraisers, but no longer does puppet shows.
