West End Blend w/ special guest The Humeleons

Friday June 19, 2015 @ 8:00 PM

Since their conception, eleven band West End Blend has been playing their version of hip-hop, soul-funk in venues all over. Fronted by vocalist Erica Bryan and rapper/breakdancer “Tangsauce”, the band pays homage to classic throwback sounds while still adding their own distinct sound and flair to their collectively-composed originals.

West End Blend boasts a full four-piece horn section, two guitars, bass, keys and percussion to boot, packing the group onto stages every night. From humble beginnings in an epic basement funk dance party, The Blend’s goal has always been to bring a party atmosphere to every show and venue ever since.

In 2013, the band recorded their debut release with recording engineer Brendan Morawski (Jungle City Studios) at Telefunken Studios in South Windsor, CT. Guaranteed to please any fan of hip-hop, soul or funk, “What It’s All About EP” combines these influences to create an energetic first release. Shortly following the EP, West End Blend released a music video to the title track of the record, “What It’s All About” directed by Ty Morin (179 Pictures).

With no signs of slowing down, the Blend maintains a busy performance schedule with plans to record extensively over the next year. Only one thing remains certain for the band’s future, West End Blend is going to keep the party going one show at a time.

THE HUMELEONS:

As life-long residents of Canton, Connecticut Kayla and Hally are a combined sibling force that is taking this small suburban town in the Farmington Valley by storm.

These sisters have really gotten the “bug” for music and performing to live audiences locally….so much so that these girls have named their band the ‘Humeleons’. This band name is reflective of these two talented girls individuality as well as their free spirited means of building mystery and excitement into each performance they deliver. One of the primary goals of each performance is to transform the experience of the audience….Whether it’s through the engagement of special musical guests, inclusion of local artists, or involvement of the audience, each performance is specifically geared to create an experience that is most certainly different from the last….not to mention fun for all.

Inspired by the teachings of the talented musicians at Downright Music in Collinsville, Connecticut, especially owner Andrew Decker who is also a member of the Humeleons, Kayla and Hally continue to broaden and refine their craft, what both foresee will continue on – a never-ending journey.

The girls believe that music creates happiness, and hope to see you at an upcoming show so that they can spread some of this happiness around.
