Charlie Thomas' Drifters and opening act The Crown Imperials

Friday August 19, 2016 @ 8:00 PM

41 Bridge Street is honored to present the legendary CHARLIE THOMAS' DRIFTERS on Friday, August 19th at 8 PM!

With hit songs like, "Under the Boardwalk", "This Magic Moment", "Up on the Roof", and "On Broadway" Charlie Thomas is the only original Drifter still alive and performing today. He got his start in 1958 with the Harlem-based group the Five Crowns, later to be known as the Drifters. Under their new name, the band released their first Top 10 hit "There Goes My Baby" with Thomas' strong tenor at the vocal forefront. This marked the group's turning point as they headed into their golden age with a string of hits including the No. 1 single "Save the Last Dance For Me."

Charlie Thomas played a monumental role in the rise of R&B sensation The Drifters in the '50s, shaping doo-wop and soul for years to come. Charlie and the gang still sound fresh as ever with their warm, perfect blend of harmonies on other classics like “Sweets For My Sweet” and “When My Little Girl Is Smiling." The Drifters have received a number of accolades during their decade-spanning career; with their induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1988 and the Vocal Group Hall of Fame a decade later, it comes as no surprise that Rolling Stone named them one of the “100 Greatest Artists of All Time." With profound, rich vocals and incredibly charming stage presence, Thomas delivers an enamoring performance every time he takes the stage and are sure to delight fans on their 2016 tour dates.
