The CarLeans w/ the Girls from Ruby Falls

Friday April 13, 2018 @ 8:00 PM

Bridge Street presents an Evening of Americana featuring THE CARLEANS with special guests THE GIRLS FROM RUBY FALLS on Friday, April 13th at 8 pm! We are thrilled to have the FOCUS Center for Autism partner with us on this fantastic production as part of our Bridge Street Give Back initiative.

THE CARLEANS are a musical collaboration between award winning singer-songwriters Jim Carpenter (guitar, vocals) and Sarah MacLean (guitar, vocals). Along with Corina Malbaurn (vocals, bass) the Connecticut-based trio blends their diverse musical backgrounds to create a captivating sound that had been drawing much attention.Steeped in passion for story telling and navigating the human experience, the CarLeans original songs are raw and powerful — paired with a delivery and live performance that's honest and marked by well-placed musicianship and vocal presence. Their vast and eclectic original repertoire is rooted in Americana/Folk music, but extends through Country/Pop/Blues/Cajun . . . to include humorous material and a driving acoustic sound that often inspires the audience to its feet to dance!

Opening the show are THE GIRLS FROM RUBY FALLS. Bluegrass poets with serious credentials, the Girls from Ruby Falls have had Connecticut singing along since they first waltzed onto the scene in 2015. Folks of all ages responded to the vivid story of Iris and Laurel Caulthorn, and their beautiful, musical tapestry of folk, storytelling, bluegrass and Americana music - a Tennessee Valley operetta against a timeless American landscape. Dreamed up by award-winning musicians Heather Fay (Connecticut Music Awards Best Folk 2015 and Best Singer/Songwriter 2016), and Sarah LeMieux (Best Jazz 2014/2015/2016 and Album of the Year 2015), two women with the songwriting chops to land film placements, a show at Google headquarters and a spot on the One Compilation in between Bono and Bruce Springsteen. The Girls from Ruby Falls together won Best New Band and Best Country/Americana in 2016.

The FOCUS Center for Autism will also be in the house, spreading awareness about their organization and collecting donations. Since 2000, the nonprofit FOCUS Center for Autism in Canton has been dedicated to helping children and young adults with autism spectrum and other related disorders achieve their full potential. FOCUS has developed a well-respected model of treatment that has now served over 1000 children and families. The FOCUS Autism Services Program provides clinical services for children, parent support groups and social clubs. Now in it's second year The Fresh Start School is a private, state approved special education program offering children with autism a quality educational experience that addresses their academic, social learning and clinical needs. In addition FOCUS operates two residential programs for adolescents and young adults with autism who have histories of trauma and abuse.
