A Tribute to Ella Fitzgerald performed by the HBH Band

Saturday June 23, 2018 @ 8:00 PM

41 Bridge Street and the HBH BAND present A TRIBUTE TO ELLA FITZGERALD on Saturday, June 23rd at 8 pm!

Dubbed “The First Lady of Song,” Ella Fitzgerald was the most popular female jazz singer in the United States for more than half a century, and perhaps the first jazz artist to become a household name. One of today’s outstanding interpreters of vocal jazz and blues, Wanda Houston, has loved and sung along with Fitzgerald’s music since she was a young girl. Originally from Chicago, Wanda grew up singing gospel music in church and with her family’s theater group. She has led an active career as an actress performing on the grand stages of Los Angeles, Las Vegas and Broadway. Like Fitzgerald, she is a great singer as well as a superb storyteller; she colors the spaces between her songs with fascinating stories of her youth and the trials and tribulations of life on the road. Wanda Houston's range, sense of swing, ease with improvisation and intimate familiarity with Fitzgerald's repertoire assure the perfect musical fit. Listen and dance to legendary, hard-swinging arrangements alternating with familiar ballads, all sung and played with authenticity and passion!

The HBH Band--Scott Heth (Piano), Jay Bradley (Drums), and Wanda L. Houston (Vocals)-- is a dynamic synthesis of musicians that have been playing on the East Coast for the past 11 years. At their core, they are a Jazz band, but they are influenced by everything from R&B and Rock & Roll, to Country and Blues. Though the core group is a trio, they will be joined by George Potts (Bass) and Charlie Tokarz (Reeds, Woodwinds) for this special evening of music celebrating the incomparable Ella Fitzgerald!

Tickets to the HBH Band's Tribute to Ella Fitzgerald are only $15 for General Admission and $25 for VIP Reserved (+ fees).
