The Music of The Band performed by Professor Louie & the Crowmatix w/ the Woodstock Horns

Friday April 6, 2018 @ 8:00 PM

Presenting THE MUSIC OF THE BAND performed by Woodstock’s Grammy-nominated PROFESSOR LOUIE & THE CROWMATIX and the WOODSTOCK HORNS on Friday, April 6th at 8 pm!

THE MUSIC OF THE BAND transcends the tribute experience, presenting this beloved canon as performed by the Band’s own studio backing band, PROFESSOR LOUIE & THE CROWMATIX. Christened by Rick Danko himself, Aaron “Professor Louie” Hurwitz collaborated with The Band for over sixteen years, producing their three comeback CD's in the 1990's (“Jericho,” "High On The Hog," and "Jubilation"), and playing the keys on their hit song “Atlantic City.” In addition to his work with The Band, Louie has produced and performed with Graham Parker, Commander Cody, Guy Davis, Buckwheat Zydeco, New Riders Of The Purple Sage, Jesse McReynolds, Four Men & A Dog and many other well-known artists. The Crowmatix, too, have worked with numerous musicians of note: guitarist John Plantania performed with Van Morrison for over thirty years, collaborating on top hits like “Domino”; drummer Gary Burke performed with Bob Dylan’s The Rolling Thunder Review and recorded and toured extensively with Joe Jackson; vocalist/percussionist/keyboardist Miss Marie performed and recorded with Levon Helm, Rick Danko, and Garth Hudson, and composed many of The Crowmatix original songs; and bassist Frank Campbell served as the musical director for Levon Helm with the Woodstock Allstars.

Joined by the WOODSTOCK HORNS (Dan Shaut, Allan Toussaint, Howard Johnson, Tom Bones Malone), PROFESSOR LOUIE & THE CROWMATIX treat audience members to THE MUSIC OF THE BAND with spot-on renditions of classic hits like: “Ophelia,” “Atlantic City,” “Domino,” “Makes No Difference,” “The Night They Drove Old Dixie Down,” “The Weight,” and many more. What’s more, Professor Louie & the Crowmatix will be celebrating the release of their latest album, “The Lost Band Tracks” (2017). Originally written and recorded in 1991 by Jules Shear and members of The Band as a come back CD for Columbia Records, “The Lost Band Tracks” has been revitalized and re-recorded by Professor Louie & the Crowmatix, and will be for sale at this special show!

Tickets are $20 for General Admission and $30 for VIP Reserved (+ fees).
